Choosing the Right Size Urn
We offer a range of sizes to help you find the right fit — from a hamster to a Great Dane.
General guideline: A pet produces approximately 30–50 ml of finely ground /pulverized ashes per kilogram of body weight (1 cubic inch per pound).
Buffer room: As a good practice, choose an urn with at least 20% more capacity than the estimated ash volume. This extra space makes transferring ashes easier and accommodates slight variations in remains.
Coarse or unground ashes: If the remains contain small bone fragments, they may take up roughly 1/3 to 2/3 more space. When in doubt, sizing up is always a safe option.
Dividing ashes: Some people prefer to keep only part of the ashes or divide them across multiple urns. This allows everyone who shared a special bond with your pet to keep a personal remembrance.
